

William was born in New Britain on February 17, 1946 and was son to the late Casimer and Jean (Kozun) Sacharko . Bill is survived by his former wife and dear friend, Dianne (Cote) Sacharko of Windsor, his son, Stacy Allen Sacharko of Wallingford, daughter Shannon and her husband Craig Theobald of Eatontown, NJ, his loving grandchildren, Warren Sacharko, Meredith and Morgan Theobald. He leaves one brother, Joseph Kozun and his wife Rose of Newington and many nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by three brothers, David, Joseph and Casimer. He was a resident of New Britain all his life, graduating from E.C. Goodwin Regional Vocational School. He was a Vietnam veteran, who served in the United States Air Force from June 1964- Jan. 1968. Bill was also in the Air Force Reserve from Nov. 1980 until his retirement from service in Feb. 1998.
He was employed by the City of New Britain Public Works for 34 years, working up thru the rank of General Foreperson. He managed, coached and helped run the A.W. Walicki Little League for 12 years. Some of Bill’s happiest days were spent on the Farmington River, fishing until dawn. Bill loved to watch sports and was very fond of UConn’s Women’s Basketball.
Funeral services will begin Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010 at 8:30 am from the New Britain Memorial Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave. New Britain followed by the Funeral Liturgy at 9:30am in St. Jerome Church. Burial with full military honors will follow in State Veterans Cemetery, Middletown. Visitation hours will be held Friday, Oct. 22, 2010 from 5-8pm at the funeral home.
