She was miraculous! Truly an angel of God. She blessed the lives of all she encountered with her sheer elegance, beauty, charisma, love and genuine friendship...surpassing what anyone could ask of one single person. She was beautiful, mind, body and soul. Celestial in existence. She is now home.
Born in Hampton, VA, March 3rd, 1965, Yolanda René Wilson (also known as René, Yoda, or Yo-Yo), 51, of New Britain and formerly of Bloomfield, CT unexpectedly entered into God's care on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 8th, 2016. She was at home, with family by her side.
She is survived and will be dearly missed by her beloved daughters: Alisa Marie Matthews and her husband Alexis Jamaal Matthews Sr. and Chanel Rae Wilson and her fiancé Preston Brighton Bell Sr. Her two precious grandsons: Alexis Jamaal Matthews, II and Preston Brighton Bell, Jr.. Her brother: Dr. Kenneth Wilson and his partner Tom Pendleton, two sisters: Lavonda Wilson and Harriet Tamika Davis and her husband Tommy Davis. She also leaves behind a niece Briana Wilson and nephew, Jordan Wilson as well as extended family and friends that cared for her. As an avid animal lover, Yolanda also leaves her puppy Buster.
In addition to being a loving Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Friend, Yolanda was a dedicated employee at the CT Health Foundation. Here she was able to inspire those she interacted with on a daily basis and share her passion for community involvement. Humble in spirit, with a loving and gentle demeanor she enjoyed spending time with her Grandsons, playing tennis or chess, sewing, remodeling, decorating her home and drawing. She was a creative and artistic soul, filled with positive energy. In her leisure time she could be found playing in her makeup, making her own cosmetics and perfumes and enjoying "pillow talk" with her daughters. With grace, Yolanda managed many of life’s obstacles and consciously decided to live a life full of joy and peace. She made the choice to be the light in a world that at times exuded darkness.
One of the many things Yolanda taught us was that life is short and that each moment should be appreciated and cherished. Yolanda has also taught us to be a motivation to others as she was to all of us.
Her time spent here on this earth was short lived but her spiritual existence will live infinitely.
With love her family invites you to her homecoming which will be held on Monday, May 16, 2016 from 12pm - 2pm pm at the New Britain Memorial-Sagarino Funeral Home located at 444 Farmington Ave. in New Britain, with a Celebration of her Life being held at 1:00pm.
In Yolanda's honor, a fund will be set-up in her memory and for her grandsons. In lieu of flowers we ask that you please make donations to:
