Alexander “Jim” Allan of West Nyack, NY, 87 years old, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2019 at Pine Valley Nursing Home in Spring Valley, NY. Jim was a resident of West Nyack for over 40 years. He was born in Brooklyn on June 10, 1931 to Alexander S. and Mae Allan. He graduated from Franklin K. Lane High school and married Linda, in 1961. Jim worked for United Brands (“Chiquita”) for 41 years as a Director of Inland Transportation. Jim was a veteran of the US Navy, serving 2 years on active duty and 28 in the Naval Reserves. Jim attained the rank of Commander prior to his honorable discharge in November of 1980. He enjoyed golf, photo editing on his computer and attending his grandson’s athletic events. He was an avid Patriots and Red Sox fan but his greatest joys came from spending time with his family. He was pre-deceased by his sister Ethel and brother-in-law Robert Pyke of Pearl River, NY. He is survived by his “bride” Linda, their sons Scott and Glenn, daughters-in-law Lynne and Stacey and his grandsons Brendan and Kevin. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 22nd from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY. The burial will take place on Wednesday the 23rd at Frederick Loescher Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spring Valley, NY with full military honors.
