Alice K. Deforest

Alice K. DeForest of New City passed away peacefully at home on Monday, November 22, 2010 with her family by her side. Alice was born October 25, 1931 to Vincent and Mary Keery in Port Chester, NY. She was raised in Mamaroneck, NY. She relocated to New City in 1960 where she and her husband, Raymond raised their family. Alice was a parishioner at St. Augustine's Church and was employed by the Town of Clarkstown Personnel Department for many years before retiring in 2002. Alice was an avid reader, loyal Mets fan and a most enthusiastic card player. She was happiest spending time with her family and especially enjoyed vacationing every year with them at LBI. Alice is survived by her seven children and their families, William DeForest and his wife Brenda (Rev. Matthew and Cathy), Cheryl Sites and her husband Donald (Dylan, Dustin) Raymond DeForest III, (Raymond, Elena) Cynthia Morehead and her husband James (Kelly, Erin, Jimmy, Sean, Tricia and her husband James and their son John), Lee DeForest, Lynne and Debra DeForest (Jack) and Mary Maloney and her husband James (Tara, Megan). She is also survived by her sister Mary Rozmus, her two brothers James Keery and Thomas Keery and many nieces and nephews. Alice was predeceased in death by her husband of fifty years, Raymond DeForest, her brother William Keery and her grandson Daniel Sites. Family will receive friends Today 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Higgins Funeral Home 321 South Main Street New City, NY. A mass of Christian burial will be offered Wednesday 10AM at St. Augustine's Church New City, NY. Burial to follow at St. Anthony's Cemetery Nanuet, NY. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Alice's name to United Hospice of Rockland 11 Stokum Lane New City, NY 10956.
