Angelina Marie Varrasi

Angelina Marie Varrasi of West Nyack, N.Y., entered into eternal peace on July 7, 2019, following a brief stay at Villa Marie Claire Hospice in Saddle River, N.J. She was 87. Angelina Varrasi was predeceased by her husband, Mario Patsy Varrasi, who entered into God’s hands in 2014, and a son, Mario (Marty), who passed into heaven in 1984. Survivors in the immediate family are a daughter, Phyllis M. DiPopolo, and son-in-law, Joseph DiPopolo, of West Nyack, along with a son, John Varrasi, and daughter-in-law, Susan Varrasi, of Wappingers Falls, N.Y. All in her family loved and adored Angelina, as did her three grandchildren Marty DiPopolo, Natalie DiPopolo, and John (J.C.) Varrasi. Angelina Varrasi was predeceased by two brothers, Dominic Persico and Anthony Persico, and a sister, Annunziata Ciuffetelli. She leaves behind loving nieces and nephews. The youngest child of Raphael and Filomena Persico, Angelina was born and raised in Yonkers, N.Y., where she attended the former Commerce High School to learn hairstyling. She worked at salons in Yonkers and Mount Vernon, N.Y., before moving with her husband to Florida. There, wife and husband enjoyed retirement before moving to West Nyack in March 2014. Angelina was an excellent hairstylist and beautician and was also skilled at cooking and arts and crafts, creating designs for photo albums that family and friends enjoyed. Visitation is Wednesday, July 10, at the Michael J. Higgins Funeral Service Inc., 321 South Main Street, New City, N.Y. (Tel.: 845-634-6110) A funeral is scheduled for Thursday, July 11, 10 am at Saint Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church in West Nyack. Angelina received loving care and support at Villa Marie Claire Hospice. Her family encourages donations to Villa Marie Claire at 12 West Saddle River Road, Saddle River, NJ 07458.
