Anita Louise Romm

Born Anita Louise Kaufner on October 5th, 1939 in the Bronx, NY. Anita was known for her passionate support of Equal rights, tenants and workers rights-specifically Unions. She spent her career teaching social studies at the high school level in various NYC schools, as well as substitute teaching after retirement.

Anita is survived by her children, Martin Romm (Wife-Sophia Pringle) of Raleigh, NC and Margaret Romm Gornnert (Husband-Glenn) of Gilboa, NY, and brother, William Kaufner of Oakland, CA. She was preceded in death in 2020 by her husband of 58 years, Walter Romm.

Those who knew Anita will remember her for her strong political convictions and songs she would sing loudly and proudly declaring her support for causes she believed in.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 19 2026 at Rose Hill Cemetery, Putnam Valley, NY.
