Anna Serra

Anna was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was born in Mount Vernon, NY, raised in the Bronx, and eventually resided in New City, NY for the last sixty-two years. Anna attended NYU and earned a degree in nursing and was a nurse for several years before completing two Master’s degrees in Elementary Education and Special Education. After her nursing career, Anna taught elementary school and eventually became a well-respected school nurse in the South Orangetown school district. She was also an adjunct professor at SUNY-Rockland. Anna was pre-deceased by her mother and father, Anella and Carmine Mautone, her sister and brother-in-law, Alfie and Joey Gallinato, and her beloved husband, Nicholas.

She is survived by her four children and their spouses, Michael (Patricia), Carmine (Denise), Adrienne (Michael), and Christopher (Nancy), her eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donation can be made in Anna’s name to the New City Library.

Visitation will be held at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Service Inc., located at 321 South Main Street, New City, NY 10956, on July 23, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Augustine's Church, 118 S Main St, New City, NY 10956, on July 24, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.

Burial will follow at St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery, 36 W Nyack Rd, Nanuet, NY 10954, on July 24, 2025, from 11:15 am to 11:45 am.
