Apolinar “Nar/Pulin” Alonzo, 77, of Spring Valley, NY, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at Montefiore Nyack Hospital. Born in Candaba, Pampanga, Philippines to Julio Alonzo and Trinidad Sangalang.
Nar was a passionate man who enjoyed Mechanical Engineering. He worked at PACE University in Briarcliff Manor until he retired. In his spare time he enjoyed fixing things at home, fishing, watching TV, playing with his apos and bowling in the Filipino and Seniors League.
Nar was extremely loving and proud of his three children and eight grandchildren. Nar is survived by his daughter Myla Alonzo Smith and her husband Anthony, son Glenn Alonzo and his wife Josie and daughter Leah Alonzo Fay and her husband Kenneth, and many loving grandchildren, Eric, Samantha, Daniel, Jolina, Alessandra, Benicio, Marcella and Sebastián.
He was also survived by his sister Rosa Alonzo Espino and his brother Antonio Alonzo from Arayat, Pampanga; as well as his many loving nieces, nephews, grandchildren and extended family. Nar was a loving father, Tito, Lolo, brother and friend to all.
The family will receive friends on Monday, May 21, 2018 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and from 7:00 – 9:00PM at the Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home, 321 South Main Street, New City, NY. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at 10:30AM (Start of the Funeral Procession). Following will be a mass of Christian burial starting 11:30AM at St. Anthony’s Church in Nanuet, NY. Nar will be laid to rest at St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Nanuet, NY.
