Austin John Noone died on Friday, July 5, 2019. Austin was born in the Bronx, NY on February 14, 1936 to Mary Ellen (Burke) Noone and Patrick Noone. Austin was one of four children and a loving brother to Nora (Noone) Gillen, Michael J. Noone and Thomas E. Noone, all of whom preceded him in death. Austin graduated from Our Lady of Assumption Grammar School, St. Agnes High School in Manhattan, and attended Iona College in New Rochelle. Austin married Margaret B. Casey on May 6, 1961 in St. Barnabas Church, and enjoyed 55 loving years together until her passing in 2016. Austin served his country in the United States Marine Reserve 1959-1964. Austin worked as a Patrolman in the N.Y.C. Transit Police Department from 1965 until he retired in 1982, at which time he went to work for the U.S. Post Office as a mail handler and retired from there in 1999. Austin was very involved with the Knights of Columbus where he held many officer positions and was Past Grand Knight and 4th Degree Member. Austin enjoyed traveling with family and friends, especially his wife with whom he shared many adventures and cruises.
Austin is survived by his daughters; Margaret (Peggy) McIntyre, Patricia (Pat) Consiglio and Tara Marie. Austin has 6 grandchildren; Austin Gregory, Brandon, Ryan, Emma Rose, Michael and Joseph, which he loved dearly and whom will miss him very much.
Visitation will take place at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY, Tuesday, July 9, 2019 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Augustine Church in New City at 10am, on Wednesday, July 10, 2019. Interment to Follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
