

Beryl J. Maddalena (née Martin), beloved mother, grandmother and artist, passed away on January 3, 2026, at the age of 84. She was born on February 16, 1941, in York, England, and raised in Scotland.
Beryl married Joseph Maddalena USAF and moved to the United States. They eventually settled in Nanuet, New York, where they made their home and remained in the same house for 55 years.
Extremely creative in all that she did, Beryl was known for her creativity and her love of animals . She had numerous pets she adored. She enjoyed a long and fulfilling career in the arts, making and teaching a wide variety of crafts. In the 1970s, she was actively involved in the early craft movement in Rockland County, leaving a lasting mark on the local arts community and inspiring many through her teaching and passion.
Beryl was a devoted mother to her daughter Stephanie Ievolella and her husband Jim, and her son David Maddalena and his wife Luana Pellicano Maddalena. She was a proud Nana to Cate and Molly Ievolella, and Giana Maddalena.
She is survived by her brother, John Martin of England, and was predeceased by her brother, Geoff Martin.
Beryl will be remembered for her creativity, her kindness, and the beautiful life she cultivated through her art, her garden, and her family.
A visitation will be held on January 9, 2026, from 9:00 am to 10:30 am at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Service Inc., located at 321 South Main Street, New City, NY 10956, US.
The funeral service will follow on January 9, 2026, from 10:30 am to 11:15 am at the same location.
Burial will take place on January 9, 2026, from 11:30 am to 12:00 pm at Frederick Loescher Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 220 Brick Church Rd, Spring Valley, NY 10977, US.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to either the Alzheimer’s Association of America or United Hospice of Rockland.
