Cathleen Ellen Malgieri

In February of 1988, she married the love of her life, Joe. They spent 34 wonderful years together as “Best Friends”. Together they enjoyed traveling, but especially loved boating on their beloved “Sereni-Tee”.

Cathy is survived by her mother Eileen Joan Murphy, husband, Joe; her children Thomas (TJ), his wife Vanessa, Chris, his wife Marisa and her daughter Jenna, her husband Travis. She was a beloved “MIMI” to Danny, Christian and Bowen. Cathy is also survived by her beloved adopted “West Coast” family Marc and Kaitilin Newman, their children Nicho and Sofia and her sister Cynthia Nawoschik .

Cathy, a nurse who became a teacher, began her teaching career at St. Dominic’s School in Blauvelt before working as a Special Education Teacher in the Clarkstown Central School District. She touched countless lives and made lasting impacts on all who were lucky to have met her.

Cathy’s love was boundless. She gave unselfishly to everyone she met. She loved being a guide, a mentor and a friend. She was also an avid dog lover, running a rescue out of her home for many years.

Family will receive guest on Monday, March 7th from 4-8pm at Michael J Higgins Funeral Home; 321 South Main St. New City, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday March 8th, 10 am, at St. Augustine Church; 140 Maple Ave. New City, NY.
