Clifford D. Ferguson Sr.
May 20, 1921 – September 14, 2020
Clifford Dale Ferguson Sr, 99, of West Nyack, passed away at home surrounded by family on September 14, 2020. The son of Irene and Clarence, he was born on May 20, 1921, in the Bronx.
Cliff attended City College in Manhattan, which was interrupted by a three year deployment to fight overseas in Europe during World War II, where he served as a staff sergeant, under General Patton, in the United States Army. Upon his return to the United States, he graduated from NYU Law School in 1948.
He worked as an attorney for MONY, for forty years. During that time, Cliff , met and married his lifelong sweetheart Henrietta (Jost) Ferguson. The pair had four children and were residents of Rockland County for 63 years. Cliff enjoyed traveling all over the world, watching all sports, especially the NY Giants and the Mets, and he was an avid bike rider well into his 90s. He was a member of the Park Evangelical Free Church where he previously served in several capacities. Always the family man, Cliff loved all time spent with his four children, ten grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
Cliff was predeceased, by his beloved daughter Cheryl Walker. He is survived by his wife, Henrietta, His children Clifford Ferguson Jr (Diane), Debra Cortland (Douglas), Dana Cohen (James), his grandchildren, Kristen Antoni (Bryan), Lindsay Walker (Edmund), Eric Cortland (Megan), Jeffery Cortland (Kelly), Matthew Walker (Nicole) , Clifford Ferguson III, Allison Cortland (Matthew), Seth Cohen, Jack Cohen & Mia Cohen, his great-grandchildren, Matthew Jr, Aiden, Jameson, Scarlett and Jace.
A private service will be held for the family at this time with a celebration of life to follow at a later date.
