Cortney Danielle Rice, 35, of New City, NY, passed in her sleep on August 30, 2013. She was born in Suffern, NY on March 21, 1978 to Pam Mance and Sean Rice. Cortney was a graduate of Westover Academy and the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. She was a compassionate and loving caretaker and trainer of animals. Cortney participated in local Rottweiler rescue events, and was a tireless advocate for the welfare and safety of animals. She was preceded in death by her loving canine soulmate, Kalle. Cortney is survived by her parents, Sean Rice and Pam Mance; her stepparents, Bennett Rice and Mark Mance; her brother and his partner, Stuart Rice and Patrick Hanson; and her partner, Laurence Gill. A private service was held. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to charities benefittiing animal welfare or a charity of
your choice.
