Denise Maureen Jordan

Denise Maureen O'Rourke Jordan, 73, passed away peacefully October 22, 2013 in the care of her loving children and the supportive staff of the Raso Hospice Residence of Rockland County. Born April 6, 1940 to Bryan and Mary O'Rourke, she was a proud graduate of St. Helena's High School, and Marymount College. A true believer in the power of education, she proudly served as an elementary school teacher for the New York City Department of education for more than 25 years. Denise married her husband Thomas K. Jordan, August 16th 1969, at St. Helena's Church in the Bronx, and until his passing in 2011 remained his "Duchess." Together, Denise & Tom raised their four children in New City, NY. A long time parishioner, Denise remained an active member of St. Augustine's Church and built many lifelong and beautiful friendships within that community. She enjoyed her retirement "On the Hill" with family and friends at the West Nyack Swim Club and participated actively in book clubs, Bible study and as a volunteer for BirthRight of Rockland.

Denise was predeceased by her parents Mary & Bryan and her beloved husband Tom. She is survived by her four children: Bryan Jordan and his wife Kristine of Hoboken, NJ; Hilary Kunz and her husband Kenneth of Congers, NY; Stefanie Jordan & her husband Charles Brodil of New City, NY; and Matthew Jordan & his wife Kerry of Hawthorne NJ. Denise was the caring & loving "Nana" of Katie, Kevin, Kerriann, Tommy, Paddy, Charlie and Nora. She cherished the friendship and support of her cousin Eileen Mandel throughout her life.

Visiting will be Today from 2-4 & 7-9 at Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am Friday, October 25, 2013 at St. Augustine's Church, New City, NY. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, Rockland Lake, NY. Donations in Denise's name may be sent to United Hospice of Rockland, 11 Stokum Ln., New City, NY or hospiceofrockland.org
