I’m so happy we were able to share our Wedding day with Gran Gran last summer. I will never forget the happiness on her face after the ceremony, when the family was all together at The Smithville Inn. For someone who always had a beaming smile, it seemed extra big on that day. 

I shared a short poem at the reception. I was always in awe of Gran Gran and Papa, two of my best friends in the world. Their love was true beauty from young to old.

The Beauty of Love: 
The question is asked, “Is there anything more beautiful in life than a young couple clasping hands and pure hearts in the path of marriage? Can there be anything more beautiful than young love?” And the answer is given. “Yes, there is a more beautiful thing. It is the spectacle of an old man and an old woman finishing their journey together on that path. Their hands are gnarled, but still clasped; their faces are seamed, but still radiant; their hearts are physically bowed and tired, but still strong with love and devotion for one another. Yes, there is a more beautiful thing than young love. Old love.”

Ciara and I made a trip to NJ shortly after we found out she was pregnant. Gran Gran and Papa were two of the first to find out and we wanted to be able to tell them in person. Gran Gran was the first person to put her hand on Ciara’s stomach, saying hello to who was inside. That image is etched into my mind.

I’m so happy she was able to see Ciara and me get married last summer. And I’m so sad that she won’t be able to meet our son.  If his heart has 1/10th of the love in it that Gran Gran’s had then he will be in store for a great life and more importantly he will make the life of everyone around him great.

My deepest condolences to my Uncle Ray, all my cousins, and the Barile family. I am so sorry I can't be there in person at the services for your wife, mother, grandmother and my beloved Great Aunt Dolores. She was such a wonderful woman, with so much spunk. Every time I saw her she always made me smile and made me feel so loved. She reminded me so much of my late Grandmother, her sister, Mary Patricia Power. She was always so lively and had such an infectious, happy energy. I will forever hold her close to my heart. Sending my love to the family.

This loving memory I will cherish as it was my  first introduction to all of  the Drumm family.  Delores  approached me with open arms and a warm embrace as she would have lovingly insisted, “Just call me Gran Gran”. 
As Lana & Shane’s  union  was celebrated in anticipation of their upcoming wedding, I was so fortunate to be received with such  kindness, and will remember most Gran  Gran’s tradition of acting out the 12 days of Christmas at their family  party. 
What an incredible kind and loving soul that most certainly will be missed here on earth, but with certainty is being celebrated in the heavens above. May her legacy live on through her loving family. On Angels wings “Gran Gran”

When thinking of Aunt Dolores, I always remember her laughing with my mom.  When together their laughs were abundant and the good times were endless. One memory I will always cherish is when Aunt Dolores invited my mom and my family to Montauk. I had three children under the age of 5 and she welcomed us with open arms. Uncle Ray and Aunt Dolores took us to the beach and light house, and made sure we had an incredible trip. Aunt Dolores was thrilled that my children devoured her chicken cordon blue during that trip which I still make for my family today.

Oh what fun we had at the annual cousins Christmas celebrations ! 🤶 🎄 

Thanks to Aunt Dolores and mom for being two of Santa’s best elves and sharing such joy and love of family ❤️

My first golf lesson was with Gran Gran in the villages - she watched the entire lesson - and has checked in on my golf game ever since! Gran Gran, thank you for getting me out on the course and showing the Barile boys how it’s done!

As a kid we lived with gran gran and papa for a year. Gran Gran recently reminded me how I would get ready with her every morning before work and imitate her getting ready (particularly putting on her lipstick). She loved this part of her day and I’m so grateful to have such great memories and to have known her for 33 years. I will miss her everyday but will try my best to emulate her caring, kind and joyous spirit!! ❤️❤️

Shane and I were so blessed to have Dolores, or Shane's “Gran Gran,” with us on our wedding day at St. Agnes Catholic Church. It meant the world to have her and Raymond, “Papa,” there with us, as they have always been a wonderful example of a marriage grounded in unconditional love, family, and faith. We have so much admiration for them. 

Dolores's warmth, support, and thoughtfulness have been constants since I first met Shane, and I’m deeply grateful for how she welcomed me like one of her own grandchildren. I feel so fortunate to have known her and to have shared such a special moment with her by our side.

We will miss her every day, but we find peace in knowing she is now one of our guardian angels watching over us.

One of my favorite memories of mom is staying up late in Montauk to play  Scrabble after the others had given up and gone to bed. After some wine, there was less Scrabble played and more stories shared. I will miss those conversations.

What a beautiful “Bohan” family picture from my parents wedding!

My mom was such an inspiring role model in so many ways …  patient,  non judgmental , loyal & selfless!  Having faith in God came easily to me due to the fact that although I wasn’t born from my mother His divine intervention placed  me with her... And oh how blessed I was to have her as my mother!

Aunt Dolores was a beautiful soul and her memory will stay with us.

Aunt Dolores always made sure that everyone had a wonderful time, felt welcomed, and shared a laugh.

I remember riding our bikes to their campsite in Montauk, staying at their home in Montauk and always having the best time. The time in Montauk is time that I will forever cherish.

I remember going to church with Aunt Dolores and loving her strong and amazing voice.

I remember how she led us in singing the 12 days of Christmas and we still do that tradition now. Every Christmas we attribute this tradition to her.

Aunt Dolores will be in our hearts and may she now rest in peace.

It started with Sunday Night brisket and HBO. It extended to 
discussion group, scholarship committee, building houses in Montauk and so much more,
Dolores, always laughing and happy, had a full life in The Bronx, in Monsey, Montauk, Florida and New Jersey.  Her love for her husband, family, friends, churches and school was unlimited and joyful.

So many incredible family memories of us all being together camping in Montauk that live on in our children and grandchildren. Dolores started the Barile family singing and performing the 12 Days of Christmas each and every year. This is another example of her love of fun and family.  This tradition still continues at our Christmas celebrations.  Dolores had an infectious laugh and a most kind and caring spirit. She inspired everyone she knew.  She will be in our hearts and on our minds, and we pray for her eternal rest. We send our love and prayers  for her entire family.

I’m going to miss everything about you but most of all, I’ll miss the comfort of your hugs, your infectious laughter, and your incredible ability to make everyone around you feel cherished, loved, and seen. Your kindness and compassion for others were not just personality traits but the essence of who you were - A beacon of warmth and goodwill who illuminated every room she walked into. It’s so painful to imagine the holidays and family gatherings ahead without your radiant spirit. My world feels  gloomier without you in it, and it’s rained every day since you left. Gran Gran, I know you’re watching over me and I hope to carry forward the love and kindness you embodied effortlessly and with so much grace. I love you Gran Gran!!!

We have so many fond memories of lunches, dinners and visits at the house.  Easy conversations and heartfelt exchanges that are close in our hearts.  When we all meet in Heaven, what a glorious outing we will have!
