Dominick Zottola of Valley Cottage, NY, 86 years old, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by loving family. He moved to the United States from Spigno Saturnia, Italy and learned English in night school. He was a U.S. Army veteran who proudly served during the Korean War. He was proud to be a United States citizen and passionately loved his country. He married the love of his life, Maria Assunta Zottola, in 1961 and they were fortunate enough to enjoy 58 years of marriage filled with unconditional love and great food. He loved his garden, his wife’s homemade sauce, hot peppers, his homemade wine, and long family dinners where he would tell many stories of his life that his family will pass down through the generations. His greatest love was his family. He is survived by his wife Maria Assunta; his son, Ralph (Erin), his daughter Elizabeth (Jack); his sisters, Adua and Filomena. He is also survived by his grandchildren Dominique and John Thomas, in addition to many loving cousins, nephews, and nieces. Dominick’s absence will be felt by everyone that was lucky enough to know him.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Veteran’s Association and United Hospice of Rockland (11 Stokum Ln. New City, NY) in Dominick’s name.
