
Donald A. Elfers of Lake Ariel, PA formerly of Nanuet, NY, passed away on March 20th, 2011, at home. He was born in the Bronx, on February 18, 1935, the son of the late Richard and Josephine Elfers. Donald is survived by his wife of 54 years, Annette, two children, Suzanne Gregory and Paul; four grandchildren, PJ, Jessica, Alex and Bryce; son-in-law Joseph, and daughter-in-law Jackie; and many loving nieces and nephews.
After his discharge from the Army, where he served as a sharpshooter on the US rifle team, he worked with the R & D dept. for Combustion Engineering. He retired from T. J. Lipton Company where he worked for more than 25 years. Upon retirement he worked for Union State Bank. For the past 35 years, Donald was a member and past President and Captain of the Nanuet Volunteer Ambulance Corps. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, vacationing at their home in Cape Hatteras and traveling abroad. He was a woodworker master craftsman and enjoyed making furniture and could repair anything. The Funeral Services will be held at Higgins in New City on Thursday, 2-4 and 7-9. On Friday a Funeral Service will be celebrated at 10:30AM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Pearl River, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to House of Care at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA.
