

Donna Miele, loving and caring wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend to so many departed to a place of eternal peace on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Mount Vernon, New York on November 5, 1947 to George and Estelle Lipton, she graduated Mount Vernon High School and Mercy College. As a registered nurse, she worked at Mount Vernon Hospital as an Infection Control Supervisor and completed her career as a school nurse in Greenberg's Early Childhood Program. Donna had a passion for Native American culture, jewelry and pow-wows. Her spiritual connection and love for guardian angels provided her with courage and strength. She was happiest when surrounded by friends, family, dancing and music. She is survived by her loving husband Ralph of 32 years, son Ralphie and his wife Johanna, brothers Barry and Dan, sister Ellen, 3 nieces and 3 nephews. She is predeceased by a niece and 2 nephews. Donna's warmth, wisdom and generosity touched all who knew her. She will be dearly missed. Family will receive visitors on Tuesday from 4-8pm at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Service Inc. A service will take place at 7pm at the funeral home. Entombment will take place Wednesday 11:30am at Rose Hills Memorial Park, Putnam Valley, NY.
