

Nita was born in Toulon , IL on October 6, 1921 to Robert and Mildred (Fell) Green. She was the second eldest of 6 children and grew up in a family of athletes. Shortly after becoming an RN, Nita shipped overseas where she proudly served her country during WWII as an Army 1st Lieutenant with the 130th General Hospital in Normandy , Northern France, the Rhineland, and at the front in the Battle of the Bulge. While serving in E urope , she met the love of her life, David Alexander Pearre. David and Nita were married after their return home from the war.
Deeply patriotic and committed to her family, Nita took great pride in her Scottish heritage and her membership in Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). She had a love for sports and was an avid golfer. She continued her love of nursing as an RN at Lake Forest Hospital and as a private caregiver. After their move to California , Nita and Dave were supporters of the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
Nita will be deeply missed by all her family and friends. Those who have loved her describe her as a special lady: “funny”, “adorable”, “fun loving”, “caring”….a “fantastic person who always had a positive view of life”. She is survived by her children, Donna Pearre, Debra Gabay (Pat), David Pearre II (Jill), her 8 grandchildren, a great-grandson, and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, her parents, her brothers, Donald and Richard, and her sisters, Virginia, JoAn, and Kayleen.
Funeral services will be held at the Lake Forest Presbyterian Church at 2 p.m. (CST) Friday, October 12, 2012. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. at Lake Forest Cemetery , Lake Forest , IL . In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to Shriners Children’s Hospital, San Diego , CA where she volunteered for many years.
