More than anything, Doreen was the heart of her family. She shared an extraordinary love story with her loving husband, Billy. High school sweethearts, they built a life together over more than five decades of love, friendship, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Their marriage was a beautiful example of partnership and commitment, and the deep love they shared touched everyone who knew them. Through every season of life, they remained each other’s greatest source of strength, comfort, and joy.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Doreen had a remarkable gift for making people feel seen, welcomed, and loved. She was a true social butterfly who brought people together effortlessly. Whether it was talking on the phone, meeting a friend for coffee, or squeezing in a quick lunch during a shopping trip, Doreen found joy in connecting with others. She had a way of making everyone feel special.
While she loved spending time with friends, her greatest happiness came from her family. She found immense joy in being a mother and grandmother and cherished every opportunity to spend time with the people she loved most. She taught those around her that life’s greatest treasures are found in connection, kindness, gratitude, and love. Doreen found beauty in the simple things and reminded all of us to slow down and appreciate the moments that matter most.
Doreen is survived by her beloved husband, Billy; her children, Tara (Brian) Waters, Lindsey (Al) Smith, and Tyler (Joanne) Diener; and her six cherished grandchildren, Caelyn Waters, Cole Waters, Esmi Smith, Deacon Smith, Tatum Smith, and Miko Smith, with a seventh grandchild expected later this year and her loving sister Jodi Rose cioppa. Her family was her greatest pride and deepest joy.
Though our hearts are broken, we are comforted by the countless memories she gave us and the love she poured into every relationship throughout her life. Her legacy lives on in the family she nurtured, the friendships she treasured, and the many lives she touched with her warmth, generosity, and light.
To know Doreen was to be welcomed, included, and loved.
Doreen taught us that a beautiful life is not measured by grand accomplishments, but by the love we share, the friendships we nurture, and the simple moments we enjoy together. She lived that every day.
In honoring Doreen’s memory, we hope you’ll take time to call a friend, gather for coffee, share a meal with someone you love, and appreciate life’s simple joys, the things that brought her the greatest happiness.
Doreen will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
