

Dorothy Hirsch, 89, of the Bronx, New York died peacefully on Wednesday March 7. Born on January 17, 1923, to Florence and Maximillian Hirsch. Dorothy grew up in the Bronx, where she graduated from Walden High School. She was a secretary for many years at Rosen & Sons, a Westchester-based construction company.
Dorothy was an intelligent, generous, and kind woman, who made friends with everyone she met. She traveled extensively and she enjoyed taking photographs of her many trips and of her loving family. Her photo albums have become family heirlooms for all to enjoy. She loved to tell stories of her childhood memories and the love she shared with her six siblings. She loved to watch Jeopardy, crossword puzzles, and taking walks to the park with friends. She will be remembered as a devoted and loving sister, daughter, aunt, great aunt, and a lifelong friend to many. No matter the challenges she faced in the past two years, she always had a smile, a generous hug, and love to give to all. She will be dearly missed.
Dorothy is survived by her brother Milton Hirsch of Matthews, NC, sister Gladys DeBuccio of Bayside, Queens, and sister Alberta (Allie) Chorostil of Nanuet. Her loving and devoted 9 nieces and nephews, 9 great nieces and nephews, and one great-great niece. She was predeceased by her parents, Florence and Maximillian Hirsch, beloved brothers William and Daniel, and her beloved sister Marilyn.
Visitation hours at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY are: Sunday 2-4pm, and 7-9pm. Funeral service on Monday at 11:00 a.m., followed by burial in Woodlawn Cemetary, Bronx.
