Dorothy J. Thorne

Dorothy Joan Thorne (Baisley), 88, devoted wife,mother, and grandmother, died Friday July 24, 2025, surrounded by her family. Dorothy was born and raised in Haverstraw, NY, where she met and married her husband Thomas Thorne (pre-deceased).They had four children; Thomas Thorne Jr. and Robert Thorne both pre-deceased. She is survived by her daughters Donna Anderson and Linda Smith, daughter-in-law Jean Thorne, and son-in-law Chris Smith.

Her grandchildren; Gabrielle Smith, Madison Smith, Connor Smith, Matthew Anderson (Patricia), Eric Anderson (Christie), Steven Anderson, Michael Thorne, Christine Thorne, Melissa Williamson, and Ashely Thorne. Great grandchildren; Michael, Sophie, Matthew, Brandon, Andrew, Mason, Savannah, Tyler, Nicholas, Austin, Brayden, Ariella, and Jaxtyn. Dorothy was also pre-deceased by son-in-law Eric Anderson (Fuzzer).

Dorothy loved and cherished her family, especially her grandchildren. They brought her so much pride and joy, they were the sparkle in her life. Dorothy was the cherished heart of her family. As a devoted matriarch who offered unwavering love, strength, and boundless generosity that shaped generations.

Known for her selflessness and compassion, she gave freely of herself, always putting others before her with grace and warmth. She will be deeply missed.

A Graveside service will be held on Thursday July 31st, 2025 at 11:00 am. Mt. Repose Cemetery Route 9W & 202 Haverstraw, NY.
