Dorothy R. Warde passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at her daughter’s home in New City, surrounded by her adoring family. She was 97 years old.
Dorothy was born on October 2, 1925, in Bronx, New York, to Beatrice and John Siano. Upon graduating from Roosevelt High School, she met and married Fleetwood Harrington Warde, who served in World War II. They were happily married for 72 years until his passing on September 21, 2016.
Dorothy and Fleetwood had two children, Barbara Elizabeth, born January 17, 1947, and Steven John, born September 23, 1949. In 1961 the family moved from Bronx, NY, to Ridgefield, NJ, where they lived until 2002, when they moved to Nanuet, NY, to be closer to their family.
Dorothy was a wonderful homemaker and later on worked in publishing at Prentice-Hall in New Jersey for nine years. Dorothy and Fleetwood were avid travelers and enjoyed visiting destinations with friends, such as France, England, Spain, and Portugal. Their greatest enjoyment of life was spending time with their three grandchildren, Lisa, Tracey, and T.J Damiani. They loved planning weekend pastimes with them, spending weeks at their summer home in Sandisfield, Massachusetts, and even taking them on a cherished trip to Italy. Dorothy enjoyed her retirement, spending time between their home in New York and their second home in the Berkshires. She enjoyed serving as an active participant in the Senior Citizens clubs in both places. Dorothy was also an avid reader up until her passing.
Dorothy was a remarkable woman. She was a loving wife, a wonderful mother, and an exceptional grandmother. Dorothy had a captivating personality and loved sharing stories of her life over the years. She was funny, quick-witted, and made everyone laugh. She was extremely generous and consistently donated to various charities. She was also highly independent, living in her Nanuet residence alone, with constant visits from her family, friends, and neighbors until her passing.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Thomas Damiani; her three grandchildren Lisa Cavallo and her husband Jimmy, Tracey Damiani-Moore, Thomas Jason Damiani
and his wife Melissa and her nine great-grandchildren, Isabelle, Chloe, and Josie Cavallo, Cody, Logan,
and Dalaney Moore and Dylan, Trevor and Carlee Damiani.
Dorothy was the best mother, grandmother, and “Nanny” anyone could ask for. She was truly loved and will live in our hearts and cherished memories. She will be missed each and every day.
All funeral services will be held privately
