Emily Norman (nee Ruggiero) of Valley Cottage, 97 years old, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2017. Her fight with dementia is over and her battle with her mind is no longer a struggle. Emily was born in the Bronx to Anna and Leo Ruggiero, moved to Yonkers in 1972 and for the past twenty years has resided in Valley Cottage. Emily was a member of the Congers II Senior Center. She is survived by her daughters Linda Norman DeCosmo, son-in-law Joseph, Karen Sher and her partner Jim Fox. She is also survived by her granddaughters Christine Sher Bongiovanni, grandson-in law Cheech (Anthony) and Valerie Sher Colazzo, son-in-law Christian and great grandsons Christian and Giovanni. She was predeceased by her loving husband Bill in 1997.
Family will receive friends on Sunday, October 15 from 3-7pm at Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, 10am, at St. Paul’s Church, Congers, followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Valhalla, NY.
