

Ethel Elizabeth Donnelly took her place in God’s choir on June 12, 2016. She was 90 years old and lived in New City since 1962.
In addition to being a devoted mother and grandmother, Ethel touched many lives during her thirty years of service as a home health aide for the Rockland County Department of Health.
Every Sunday, Ethel sang in the St. Augustine’s Church choir and then went out for brunch with friends and family. Carmen Almonte, her long time friend, usually sat by her side. She also was a loyal Yankees fan and coached every game from her living room couch.
She is survived by her children Edward Donnelly of New City, NY, Dennis Donnelly of New City, NY, James Donnelly and his wife Sharon of Brick, NJ, Donna Bishop and her husband Richard of Port Charlotte, FL, and Joseph Donnelly and his wife Ann of New City, NY along with 16 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her grandson, Douglas Donnelly.
Family and friends will gather for a wake on Wednesday from 7-9, Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 at Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY. The funeral mass will take place 10:00 am Friday morning at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church in New City, NY. Burial will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park, Farmingdale, NY 11735. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Augustine's Church in Ethel's name to support the choir.
