Evelyn “Morning”Guidali of Mesa AZ , a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully alongside her beloved husband, Gerald, on July 28, 2026. Born on August 8, 1937, in Catano Peurto Rico . Evelyn lived a life defined by deep love, education, and unwavering commitment to her family.
A proud graduate of Julia Richman High School, Evelyn continued her education at Hunter College. While working at 20th Century Fox, fate placed her in the same building as a young man she had not yet met—her future husband, Gerald. On November 9, 1963, Evelyn married Gerald in a beautiful ceremony at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City. Together, they built a life centered entirely around their deep love for their family, a bond so strong they stayed together until the very end.
Evelyn was preceded in death by their beloved daughter, Adria; her parents, Celestino and Hortensia; and her loving siblings, Amalia, Charles, Laura, Haydee, and Johnny.
Her legacy of love lives on through her surviving family. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Aimee Guidali Papakalodoukas, and her husband, Tom; her granddaughter, Jaclynn Guidali McDonald, and her husband, Dustin; and her granddaughter, Shannon Day. She will be deeply missed by all the lives she touched.
A joint visitation and celebration of life for Evelyn and Gerald will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home (New City, NY). A joint Mass will follow at 11:30 AM at St. Anthony's Church (Nanuet, NY). Burial will take place at 12:30 PM at St. Anthony’s Cemetery.
