Florence C. Zeiger

Florence C. Zeiger (Voigt), 94, passed away peacefully at Sunrise of New City on January 10, 2022. She was born on March 12, 1927 in Queens, NY to Emil and Sarah Voigt. She had four older brothers, all predeceased.

Florence was a loving, caring wife and mother who enjoyed life. She loved her home and working in the garden. Watching the birds gather around the assorted birdhouses brought great joy to her. Other passions included cooking, watching baseball, playing cards, reading mysteries and playing BINGO. Florence’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. She was truly a people’s person. Always finding a way to hold conversations and helping those that needed help.

Florence is survived by her daughter Carol Massaro and son-in-law Thomas P. Massaro of Stony Point, NY; two cherished granddaughters, Deborah Massaro of Pflugerville, TX, and Valerie Viggiano with her husband Bryan Viggiano of Nanuet, NY and her great-grandson Gavin Viggiano. She was predeceased by her loving husband Charles Zeiger of New City, NY and eldest daughter Barbara Zeiger of Guttenburg, NJ. Florence will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Family will receive friends on Monday, January 17th between 2-4 and 7-9 at Higgins Funeral Home in New City. The funeral service will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 365 Strawtown Road, New City, NY at 10 am on Tuesday January 18th.
