Giuseppe “Poppa Joe” Castiglia 82, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2020 at St. Lawrence Hospital in Bronxville, NY. Giuseppe was born on October 10, 1938, in Sciara, Italy. Upon coming to America, Giuseppe began his career as a butcher, eventually starting his own business. Giuseppe is survived by his son Isidore and daughter-in-law, Joni and grandchildren Maria and Micayla, his son Pasquale Castiglia and daughter-in-law Tina, and grandchildren Brianna and Nicholas, as well as his siblings Rose LoCurto and Mario Castiglia. Giuseppe is pre-deceased by his wife, Maria. Giuseppe loved every moment he spent with his grandchildren and valued life-long friendships, and family above all. Giuseppe was adored by everyone he met and will be affectionately remembered as the neighborhood grandpa.
Family will receive guests on Wednesday, December 9th from 8:30am - 10am, at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home in New City. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at 11am, at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Bronx, NY. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery
