Gloria M. Sansone

Francesco and Mary V. (Licursi) Capparelli in Mount Vernon, NY. A graduate of St. Barnabas High School in the Bronx, on October 8, 1949 she married the love of her life, Dominic Sansone, also of Mount Vernon. They moved to New City in Sept of 1960 where she was very happy to stay home and raise their family.

She loved to bowl and was a long-time member of the Catholic Big Sisters league in New City. She looked forward to trips to Atlantic City where she became a “frequent flyer” at the slots! Her favorite thing was to be surrounded by her family and she always provided a feast. She had a passion for food…..HER food! No one could make meatballs like Glo and her sisters...it was their Mom’s recipe! She worked for the County of Rockland in the Payroll Dept until she retired in 1991.

Glo is survived by her husband of 61 years, Dominic “Don”, her daughter Laurie Cumming and her husband Jeff of Congers; daughter Virginia “Ginny” Colsey and her husband Alan of Valley Cottage; Daughter-in-law Kathy Berkowitz & her husband Ken of Congers; Grandchildren: Kim, Jackie & Michael Sansone and Blair, Ben & Allie Colsey. She is also survived by her sister, Frances Cosseboom & her husband Frank of New City and brother-in-law Ed Jones of Suffern as well as many adoring nieces and nephews and great nieces & nephews.

She is pre-deceased by her son, Greg Sansone in 1991, her sister, Mary Theresa (Terry) Jones in 1996 and grandson, her brother James Capparelli, and Jeffery Cumming in 1988.

Viewing will be Sunday, August 14th 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Higgins Funeral Home, 321 S Main Street, New City, NY. . Funeral service will be held on Monday, August 15th at St. Francis of Assisi Church at 10:15AM Parrott Road, West Nyack, NY 10994.
