Greg M. Dore passed away on Friday, January 21, 2022, due to the progression of his Duchenne's Muscular Dystrophy (MD) and complications with his breathing. He was 24 years old. Greg was born in Hackensack, New Jersey to Eneo (Neil) Dore, who immigrated from Italy at the age of three, and Maria Dore , the daughters of Cypriot immigrants. Greg and his family resided in Stony Point, New York for 24 years. In the the last 10 months, Greg moved from hospital to hospital and then finally to Freidwald Rehabilitation Center in New City, New York.
Greg was a kind and pure hearted man. He was strong, determined, smart and loved by so many. With all of the obstacles God gave him, Greg smiled and fought through them all. He was a true hero and inspiration to people of all ages. His thoughtful approach and genuine nature allowed Greg to touch so many hearts. Greg truly had a beautiful soul.
Greg studied Video Game Design at Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida. Through Full Sail University he also received his certificate in AutoCAD 3D Design. A huge part of his life was spent playing video games with his older brother and his friends all over the world. The video games allowed Greg to live out his wildest adventures, meet his girlfriend, and keep lifelong friendships.
Greg loved baseball and wished he could be a baseball player. Even though his MD kept him from doing so, he was never short of supportive for his younger sister playing softball and for his team, the New York Mets. He was a diehard Mets fan and would not only go to their home games, but also traveled to Florida to watch their spring training games with his Mom. While in Florida, he was able to explore a new place in the world and expand his passion for food. What started as a boy who only ate buffalo wings, turned into a man who tried it all. His personal favorites were chicken franchise and chicken biryani.
Greg was a loving and dedicated son and brother. No matter how difficult his life was at that moment, he was always there to help and support his family. With his family, Greg shared a love for all Marvel and Star Wars movies. He was even able to meet each of his favorite movie and anime characters at Comic-Con.
Greg is survived by his Mother and Father, Maria and Neil Dore; his brother and sister, Alex and Paulina, and he is also survived by his cat Kirby and his loving companion dog, Percy.
