Harriet D. Owen died on September 25, 2012, at the age of 97, surrounded by her family. She was born on August 5, 1915, to Gerda and Harry Tammany in Yonkers, N.Y. She was predeceased by her husband of fifty years, Richard M. Owen, and by her son, Richard M. Owen, Jr. She is survived by her son, Harry Owen and his wife Suzanne; and by her son, George Owen and his wife, Mary Margaret. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Deborah, Michael, Andrew, Steven, and Christopher Owen, as well as eight great-grandchildren. She was an active member of St. John’s Episcopal Church for more than 63 years, and she retired as a school lunch manager for the Clarkstown Central School District. Harriet was devoted to her family and her church, and will be missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be from 2-4 pm, and from 7-9 pm Thursday, September 27th at St. John’s Episcopal Church, and the funeral will be at 10 am on Friday, September 28th at the same location. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Memorial Fund at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 365 Strawtown Road, New City, NY 10956.
