August 22, 1949 - September 27, 2010 James "Pops" Ellis was called to Heaven on September 27th, 2010, after a valiant battle with cancer. Jim spent his final days in his home surrounded by his immediate and extended family. Jim is survived by his devoted wife Ellen (Primrose), their two sons Peter and Michael, daughterin-law Alyssa, and three grandsons; Tyler, Drew, and Colin. His loving in-laws Harry and Floria Primrose were at his side. Jim was pre-deceased by his parents George and Eva Ellis, and two sisters Judith Sirkowa and Margaret Williams. He is also survived by his siblings Eva Saltarelli, George Ellis, Virginia Ellis, Thomas Ellis, David Ellis, and Susan Bliese, and many nieces and nephews. Jim was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served during the Vietnam War. Donations can be sent to the United Hospice of Rockland. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9PM at Higgins Funeral Home, New City, N.Y. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM at St. Augustine's Church, New city, N.Y. Burial will follow in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Nanuet, New York.
