James J Hawley

James J Hawley of Valley Cottage, NY, 61 years old, passed away on June 30, 2017 with his two daughters and wife by his side. Jim was born in Manhattan, NY on November 8, 1955 to Eileen (Costello) and Walter Hawley. He worked as an operating engineer with Local 30 and was a member of the Closter Elks. Jim was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed darts, pool, reading sci fi fantasy, collecting knives, coins and stamps. Jim was a true believer in the saying “there is no short Irish story”. He is survived by his wife Jean; daughters Kaeleigh and Maille. He is also survived by his five sisters Margaret (Mike) Ryan, Eileen Hawley, Maryanne (Chuck) Catalano, Mercedes (Dom) Basile, and Denise Scaglione, plus many nieces, nephews and cousins. His best friends will miss him dearly, Lisa and Brent Bodner and their family. He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Walter, and brother-in-law Ralph Scaglione. He will be missed by all who know him.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY. A short prayer service will be held

on Friday, 11am at the funeral home. A repast will follow at the Closter Elks, in Closter, NJ.
