James J. Moloney

James Moloney of Chester, NY, 88 years old, passed away surrounded by his loving family on March 18, 2025. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years (Dolores Moloney), his son (Timothy and Monica Moloney) and daughter (Margaret and Alex Jamieson). He is also survived by his grandchildren (Michelle and Ben, Gabrielle and Sean, Mollie and Dominick, Chloe, Valentina, and Shannon). He is predeceased by his mother and father (Margaret and Patrick Moloney) and brother (John Moloney).

James retired from the FDNY after 26 years of service. Although after retirement, James continued to always serve his community whenever he could get the chance. Our proudest, yet his most humbled moments, were always helping those in need. His biggest joys were spending time with his family, singing in the church choir, planting flowers in the spring, and his almost daily visits to McDonald’s and Harbor Freight where he was their most valuable customer.

Papa’s greatest gift was teaching us the importance of taking care of one another. While he may have left this world for his ultimate home, he will live on in our hearts and the cherished memories that fill our days and push us to do good in all the moments of our lives.

A visitation for James will be held Sunday, March 23, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Service Inc., 321 South Main Street, New City, NY 10956. A funeral mass will occur Monday, March 24, 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at St Paul's Catholic Church, 82 Lake Rd, Congers, NY 10920.
