

James J. Trias passed away on July 14, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in New York City on May 26, 1923 to John and Terpsethea (Calivas) Trias. He served his country during World War II, joining the United States Army Air Corps Cadet program and was commissioned a Flight Officer. He was assigned to the 441st Bomb Squadron in England, flying 25 combat missions as a bombardier over France and Germany. After the war ended he continued to serve in the United States Army as a Second Lieutenant until he was discharged and sworn into the newly created United States Air Force, rising to the rank of Major. He was discharged from the Air Force in December 1953. He graduated from Syracuse University in May 1958 and married Wilma Irwin that same August. Jim worked for 31 years as an Electrical Engineer for AirBorne Instrument and Technicon. After retirement he spent his time traveling with his wife and visiting with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Wilma, his two sons James M. Trias (Judy) of North Wales, PA, and Tad Trias (Bridget) of Severna Park, MD, and his three daughters Susan Eaton (Michael) of Chestnut Ridge, NY, Sandra Bonagura (Anthony) of Bethel, CT, and Sharlene Ransford (Michael) of Rochester, NY. Jim is also survived by his brother George and sister Xanthia Weber. Jim was blessed with 12 grandchildren and will be greatly missed. His family will receive friends on Friday July 20, 2012 from 3-5 PM at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home in New City. A service will follow at 6 PM at the same location.
