Janet M. Hampson

Born to Arthur T. and Helen E. Kenney, Janet was raised in Bronx, NY and spent many happy summers with family in Stanhope, NJ.

Janet married Irving W. (Bill) Hampson Jr. in 1955. They lived in Yonkers until 1962, then moved to New City where they raised their family. They were married 52 years until his death in 2007.

Janet is survived by her six children, Diane McFarlane (Peter), Gale Hampson, Lorraine Ramppen (Russell Chavez), and her triplet sons, William Hampson (Valerie) Glen Hampson (Anja), Gary Hampson (Anh), her four grandchildren, Jenna Sitomer, Lisa Sitomer, Luke Hampson, Jessica Hampson, and her great granddaughter Mia. Her brother Arthur M. Kenney preceded her in death.

Janet was an extraordinary 20-year lung cancer survivor. Her strong will and determination to overcome it were a true inspiration to us all. Janet was an accomplished tennis player. She was Captain of the Bergen County Women’s Inter-Club, and competed well into her 60s. Among her proudest achievements were raising her children which included her triplet sons.

There will be a viewing at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Service in New City, NY on Friday, August 20th from 3pm-7pm. The funeral service will be at St. Francis of Assisi in West Nyack on Saturday, August 21st at 10AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to United Hospice or the American Lung Association.
