Jean-Claude Cadet September 13, 1940 – November 16, 2020

It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Jean-Claude Cadet, 80, passed away unexpectedly from complications of cardiac disease on the morning of November 16, 2020. He passed away with his devoted wife by his side at their home in Stony Point, New York.

Jean-Claude was born on September 13, 1940 in Petite Riviere de L’Artibonite, Haiti. He was the second child of his loving mother, Camite Cadet. Even as a child, Jean Claude developed an unwavering faith in God’s guidance, love, and mercy. At the age of 22, sponsored by his big brother Ernst, Jean-Claude immigrated to the United States and became a United States citizen. On July 8, 1967 Jean-Claude married his true love, Claudette.

Jean-Claude always firmly believed that acquiring a solid education was the path to success. In 1966, Jean-Claude graduated from the Mandl School for Medical Technology. By 1976, Jean-Claude earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Science from Antioch College and completed the Columbia University/ Harlem Hospital Physician Associate Program. He then began his career as a Physician Assistant at New York Medical College Center For Comprehensive Health Practice. In 1986, he earned a Masters Degree in Public Health. Jean-Claude then became a Clinical Assistant Professor of Family Medicine and an appointed Faculty Member at New York Medical College (1986 to 2004). Jean-Claude retired in 2004 after 28 illustrious years in clinical and academic medicine.

Jean-Claude’s hard work and perseverance was always bolstered by his commitment to provide a good life for his family. He supported Claudette as she worked to become a registered nurse. He and Claudette had three loving children - Cynthia, Jessie, and James. One of his proudest memories came in 1996 when, in the same year, he celebrated his children’s graduations from medical school, law school, and West Point. In his later years, Jean-Claude truly revelled in the time spent with all his grandchildren.

Jean-Claude is survived by his wife of 53 years, Claudette Cadet; his children, Cynthia Cadet, Jessie Djata (h. Pappoe Djata), and James Cadet; son-in-law, Pierre Antoine Louis; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Cadet; seven grandchildren, Victoria Cadet, Pierre Louis, James Cadet II, Sophie Louis, Gabriella Cadet, Stephen Djata, and Alexander Cadet; his nephews, Ervenst Grand-Pierre (w. Shaquana) and Erby Grand-Pierre; and his great nieces, Eidayjha Grand-Pierre and Ervuana Grand-Pierre. He is predeceased by his mother Camite Cadet, his brother, Ernst Grand-Pierre and nephew, Ernst Grand-Pierre, Jr..

Jean-Claude was a generous, devoted, and caring family man; a self-proclaimed political junkie and NY Mets fan. We will always carry his memory in our hearts.
