Joan C Eberhardt

July 6, 1934November 17, 2021

Joan C Eberhardt, age 87, of Stony Point, New York passed away on Wednesday, November 17, 2021. Joan was born July 6, 1934.

Joan Eberhardt passed away at home, peacefully and surrounded by her family on Wednesday, November 17, 2021.

Joan was born on July 6,1934, the daughter of Catherine and Thomas Byron in Staten Island, N.Y. She attended St. Joseph Hill academy from 1st through 12th grade. Upon graduation, Joan began working at Morgan Guarantee Trust company in lower Manhattan, working in the payroll department, a job she cherished her whole life and was immensely proud of.

In 1955 she married her husband Rudolf, a New York City police officer. While traveling through the Adirondack mountains on their honeymoon, they developed a life long love for the region. They eventually moved to the Bronx for a short time and began raising a family, one son and two daughters. They then settled in Nanuet, Rockland County in 1961 living in the same house for 50 years. This is where Joan's identity for the rest of her life was established including love of her home, children, grandchildren, traditions, friends and family.

Joan and Rudy enjoyed traveling, but it was the simple pleasure of a vacation home in the Adirondacks surrounded by their kids and grandchildren that seemed to bring them the most joy.

Joan was a devout Christian and her faith never wavered. It sounds cliché, but if you looked up the words, Mom, Grandma, Granny, you would see her picture. Her passing leaves a tremendous void in all of our lives.

Joan was predeceased by her husband of 48 years in 2003 and is survived by her son Jimmy, and daughters Eileen and Christine including their soulmate and spouses Heidi, John and Tommy. 6 grandchildren, Matthew, Lindsay, Andrew, James, Alexa and Christopher and their spouses and soulmates, Stacey, Scott ,Juliet, Jack and Emmi.

Joan truly was a special person. Loving, caring, nurturing, and giving. Perhaps it can best be said by how her neighbors kids referred to her. Never by Mrs., instead they chose to call her Jimmy's Mother.

Family will receive friends from Sunday 2-6PM at Higgins Funeral Home New City, NY. Mass of Christian Burial on Monday 10AM St. Anthony's Church Nanuet, NY. Interment to follow at St. Anthony.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at for the Eberhardt family.
