

Joey Kanter-Durden, 68, died during the morning of August 1st. at Joe Raso Hospice after a courageous battle with cancer. Born February 2, 1946 the daughter of the late Marvin D. Kanter and Mina Marcus Kanter, also survived by her brother, Steven Kanter. Graduating from Cheltenham High School, and receiving her degree from Temple University. Briefly married to author Charles Durden, then went on to pursue a successful career at ABC News, handling various tasks, she became the Stage Manager for Good Morning America, The National and Overnight News shows. Joey had a love and dedicated passion for animals their right to a good home if domestic or a good habitat if wild. For many years volunteered her efforts to animal organizations. She enjoyed theater and in her later teens acted in summer stock. Joey relished going to things like estate sales, street sales, flea markets, and auctions - the girl just loved to shop. A loving daughter to her mom, a great sister, and cool aunt to Steve's 3 children. Her friends say she had a kind heart and gentle soul, was a terrific friend, always positive and supportive, she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
