John "Jack" C. Casey of New City, NY passed away peacefully at home on June 30, 2019. He was 78 years old. John was born on December 6, 1940 in Manhattan. He was the only child of Rose Margaret (née Kelleher) and Denis Francis Casey. John was raised in the Bronx where he graduated from Mount Saint Michael High School. He was married to his wife Patricia (nee Montuori) for 55 years and together they raised their three children in New City. John is survived by Patricia and their three daughters; Rose Corbett (Donald), Josephine Lindgren (Douglas) and Denise Kelleher (Frank), as well as six grandchildren; Julia and Katherine Corbett, Alexandra and Natalie Lindgren, and Danielle and John Kelleher.
John was a retired Sergeant of the NYPD where he spent over four decades, most notably in the elite Emergency Service Unit (ESU) and on the Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF). John loved his work in ESU and was highly decorated for his acts of bravery - including two Medals of Valor. Police work was John's calling and after retiring from the NYPD he became a Detective Lieutenant with the Queens District Attorney's Office where he served as the office's liaison to the JTTF.
John was a gifted conversationlist and could engage anyone and tackle any subject. He often recounted tales of his police work with the other "E-men" in ESU - men he considered his brothers. He was well-informed and charming. His sense of humor remained robust right up until his passing. John adored his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren who were truly the loves of his life.
