John E. Donohue of New City, NY passed away on March 15, 2013. He was born in the Bronx, NY on February 19, 1935 to Peter Donohue and Mary (O’Donnell). John joined the NYPD in 1959 and retired in 1987 from Manhattan North (Narcotics) as a Sergeant. He worked for Consumers Union Magazine in 1999, was a Member of the Anchor Club of the NYPD, The 10-13 Club of Rockland County, Knights of Columbus McCloskey Council and the West Nyack #1 Seniors. John is survived by his loving wife Anne, daughters Sheila Allen (Glen) and Ellen Windorf (Kevin), son John Donohue (Julianne), grandchildren Kieran, Olivia and Aidan, and sisters Anne O’Connor (William) and Sheila Geissler (Ambros). He was predeceased by an infant son Gregory in 1966
Family will receive friends on Sunday from 7-9pm and Monday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home, in New City. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday at 11:30 am at St. Anthony’s Parish Church. Burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
