John Garvey

John Thomas “Jack” Garvey passed away on Feb. 27, 2018 at home surrounded by his family. Born on Dec. 14,1938 in Manhattan and raised in the Bronx he was the son of the late John and Bella (Tully) Garvey. Jack will be loved and cherished by his wife of 52 years Kathleen “Kay” and their children John (BethAnn), Eileen (Novotny) and Kevin (Shiela). He is also survived by his five cherished grandchildren Danny and Katie Garvey, Brian and Michael Novotny and Kristen Garvey, sister Catherine (Gary) Jarman sister-in-law Marion (Joseph) Ferguson and brother-in-law John (Kathleen) Hardiman. He also leaves behind many loved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Joseph. Jack had a long career as a member of Local 30, Operating Engineers For over 40yrs. He was a member of West Nyack II Senior Club and a parishner of St. Francis of Assisi. Jack will be remembered for his love of family, his charming wit, love of boat rides and sunshine, and sitting on his deck.

Family will receive friends on Friday March 2, 2018 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at MJ Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday March 3, 2018 at 10AM, at St. Francis of Assisi, West Nyack. Followed by Interment at St, Anthony’s Cemetery, Nanuet, NY. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s or the National Kidney Foundation
