John Charles Lawson

John was born on March 16, 1962 in Congers, NY to Robert and Doris Lawson. He grew up in Valley Cottage, NY and graduated from Nyack High School in 1980. He attended SUNY Delhi and had a successful career as a chef. His hobbies included billiards, soap-making, gardening, collecting Tiki mugs, and buying extravagant gifts for his nieces and nephews. John will be remembered for his courage, his sarcastic wit, and his generosity. He will be greatly missed.

John is survived by his father Robert Lawson, his sisters Pamela (Edward) Smith, Suzanne (Mark) Smith, Christina (Daniel) Fontanilla, and Bryanne (Jade) Adler, and six devoted nieces and nephews: Megan Smith, Casey Smith, Julia Smith, Robert Smith, Kody Smith, and Brinn Adler.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Mount Repose Cemetery in Haverstraw, NY.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, remembrances be made in the form of charitable contributions to either of the following organizations that were meaningful to John: The Community Action Partnership for Dutchess County (https://www.dutchesscap.org) or Rehabilitation Support Services (https://rehab.org).
