John Murdock

John Murdock, lifetime resident of Spring Valley and New Hempstead, NY passed away on 6/1/2023. John was born on Sept 27th 1930 to Michael and Anna(Minetic) Murdock. He graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1948, and then worked for Base-Lock Stamp Company until 1951. John served in the U.S Army from 1951-1953 as a tank maintenance mechanic in Korea. Upon returning home, he worked in the Spring Valley post office for 35 years. John was devoted to his family and being a real do-it-yourselfer. He constantly repaired, improved and maintained both his household premise in New Hempstead and a seasonal cabin in Ellenville, NY. He enjoyed the outdoors and for many years was an avid hunter. He is predeceased by his son, Thomas Bruce, his two brothers George (Jeanette) and William(Doris). He is survived by his wife, Trudy (Gertrude) who he married in 1955, and also his children, Kenneth Murdock and wife April(Jimenez) of Rio Rancho, NM and Linda (Randy) of Guilford, CT, and two beloved grandchildren Amanda Perham and Brendan Perham. Also surviving him is his Brother-in-law James Guinan, his sister-in- law Irene Thomas and many nieces and nephews. May God welcome him into heaven keeping him happily busy working with his hands.

A memorial service will be held at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home, New City at a future date with Interment following after at St. Anthony's cemetery in Nanuet, NY.
