

2020. John was a long time resident of Nanuet, moving from Valley Stream NY in 1960. He was born on
March 18, 1931 in New York City to John and Mary (Conlon) Niblo. He graduated from Cardinal Hayes
High School in the Bronx and attended City College in NY. He served honorably in the US Army in Korea,
November 1951 to August 1953. He had a long career in the garment business working in Gimbels in
Manhattan and later worked in finance, rising to a partner at Globe Tax Services in NY. He married the
love of his life June Madden of Astoria NY in 1952. John was a longtime member and Past Grand Knight
of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed live music, dancing at
Tavern on the Green, Broadway shows and the good company of his cherished family and friends. He is
survived by his wife of 68 years, June, their children, Linda Stewart (Bob deceased), Kevin Niblo (Sue),
John E. Niblo, Cathleen Niblo (Sean), Mariann Niblo, Doreen Smith (Steve), and beloved grandchildren,
Lauren (Albert), Jonathan, Keri (Eric), Kyle (Liz), Kristi, Nicole, Cassidy, Audrey (deceased), Glenn and
great grandchildren Calvin and Barrett, in addition to many nieces and nephews. He has been joyfully
reunited with his granddaughter Audrey and many members of the Niblo, Madden and Jerome families.
He will be missed by all who knew him.
Family will receive friends on Friday from 3 to 7pm at Higgins funeral home in New City, New York. Mass
of Christian burial will be on Saturday at 10 AM at Saint Francis of Assisi in West Nyack NY, followed by
internment at Saint Anthony’s cemetery Nanuet NY.
