

Joseph L. Falotico, 85, of Haverstraw, formerly of New Port Richey, Florida, Valley Cottage, and the Bronx, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2017. Joseph was born on February 5, 1932 in Manhattan. He grew up in the Bronx and graduated from the NY School of Printing. His friends called him Joe. Joe served in the U.S. Army with Special Services during the Korean War. He traveled all over Europe playing baseball for the U.S. Army team as a pitcher. After his service he returned to the United States and married the love of his life, Cecilia, in 1958. He worked for the U.S. Post Office in New York City for 33 years. Following his retirement, he and his wife and daughters moved to Florida where he could spend his retirement relaxing. His relaxation did not last long as he took a job working as a crossing guard for the Pasco County Sheriff’s Department. He retired for good in 2005 after 20 years with the Sheriff’s department. Joe’s pastimes included playing cards and checkers with his grandchildren and son in laws, bowling, and watching the NY Yankees. Joe was a lifelong Yankee fan, following the team for three quarters of a century.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Cecilia; his daughters, JoAnne Gaasbeck and husband Paul, Terri Charnisky and her husband Michael, and Cindy Reilly and her husband Kevin; his loving grandchildren, Joseph Gaasbeck, Colleen Gaasbeck, Michael Charnisky, Gianna Charnisky, and Joseph Reilly.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Falotico, and sister, Vicki Gargiulo.
Family will receive friends on Friday from 2:00-5:00 & 6:00-9:00 pm at Higgins Funeral Home, New City, NY. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, 11:30am at St. Paul’s Church, Congers, NY.
