Joseph Martin

Joseph Martin, of Valley Cottage, NY, formerly of Yonkers, NY passed away on May 28, 2012. Joe was born September 19, 1932 to Anne (Jenkins) and Joseph Martin in the Bronx. He proudly served our country in the United States Air Force and was a Yonkers firefighter for over 32 years and truly loved his job. As a firefighter, he received many awards and commendations for bravery. Joe and his wife Arlene, who predeceased him, were married New Year's Day 1956. He loved to tell stories about history and life's adventures. His favorite pastime was spending time with his grandchildren and his special pal Pumpkin. He will be profoundly missed.

Joe is survived by his children, Michael (Margaret), Tracey Cody (Ken) and Kevin. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kelly, Kate, Kerri, and Patrick; and his great-grandson, Jose. He was predeceased by his sister, Ann and brothers, Tommy and Jimmy.

Family will receive friends Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home, New City. NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Church, Congers, NY, followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Paul's Food Cupboard.
