Josephine King

Josephine King passed away on December 25, 2010. She was 81 years old. Josephine was born on March 8, 1929 in the Bronx NY to Margaret (nee Colgan) and Thomas O'Keefe. She attended Our Lady of Mercy School and graduated from Walton HS. She then went to work for Continental Can Company in NYC and worked there until she married in 1954. She moved to Rockland County in 1961 where she became active in St. Joseph's Elementary School in Spring Valley, NY where her children attended school. She traveled extensively over the years with her husband Tom; with one of the highlights being in 1983 when they had the opportunity to visit their parent's hometowns in Ireland. In her later years, she most enjoyed spending time with her loving family. In addition to her parents, she is pre deceased by her loving husband Thomas in 2001, her sisters, Vera McGrath, Margaret Macken, Eileen O'Keefe and her brother Thomas O'Keefe. She is survived by her children, Thomas and his wife Susan King of New City, NY, Margaret King Fitzpatrick of Wilton, CT and John King of Nanuet, NY and Port Orange FL, her grandchildren Stephanie, Katherine and Michael King of New City, NY. Viewing will be held on Wednesday December 29 from 2-4 & 7-9 at Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday December 30 at St. Anthony's Church at 10am, followed by Interment at St. Anthony's Cemetery.
