Judy was born in South Orange, NJ on May 16, 1931 to loving parents Filomina (Petruzzello) and Anthony Nardone. She is predeceased by her parents, brothers Vincent and Anthony and survived by her sister Cecelia, brother Leo and her devoted husband Harold ’Sid’ McCready.
Judy and Sid were married on July 23, 1955 at Our Lady of Sorrows church in So. Orange, NJ. They were happily married for 66 years. Together they raised four children; Anthony (Christina), Judith (Kevin), Stephen (Jill), and Michael (Kelly) and have four grandchildren and four great grandchildren who they adore.
Prior to marriage, Judy worked as an artist at Lorsten Studios in Newark, NJ and then as a secretary to the head of R.O.T.C. at Seton Hall University. It was at Seton Hall University where Judy first met Sid and where she was honored as Queen of the Military Ball.
Judy lived a wonderful, full and happy life with her family and friends. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mom, grandma, great grandma, aunt and friend. She would love to tell us the stories about her growing up with all the cousins and her siblings on Church St. She loved the extended family gatherings and loved our weekly Sunday visits for pasta, cards and bocce at her parents.
Judy was very devoted to her faith and enjoyed teaching religious education. She was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Augustines Church, New City, NY and enjoyed bringing eucharist to fellow parishioners. Judy was a tireless and dedicated volunteer at St. Augustines. She organized, ran and personally handled the weekly and holiday flower schedule and displays, enjoyed being a part of the yearly Christmas Boutique, enjoyed daily mass and was an integral member of the building committee for the new St. Augustines Church that opened in 2001. She got a great deal of satisfaction from the fact many of her ideas were incorporated into the final design of the church interior. Shewas especially proud of the two stained glass windows on either side of the altar she and Sid donated that were dedicated to the McCready and Nardone families.
Judy was an accomplished watercolor artist who had several successful showings of her paintings. She enjoyed bringing to life in paintings her love of flowers and religious figures. Many of them hang proudly in family and friend's homes. Her talents also included quilting, sewing and flowers where she won numerous awards. Her beautiful flowers and plants could be seen all season in her yard, on both porches and in so many rooms inside her home. We can’t forget her love of the water, playing cards and the enjoyment she got playing her slots. She also enjoyed being a part of the New City Senior Club at Street School.
