Judy Sofia passed away peacefully on August 19, 2026, at the Tidewell Empath Hospice House in Sarasota, Florida, surrounded by the family that meant the world to her.
Judy’s life was a beautiful testament to the power of a mother’s love. She did not crave travel, grand adventures, or material things; instead, her entire world revolved around her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She lived every single day for her family, finding her ultimate joy and peace simply by being in their presence.
Her home was a haven of warmth, laughter, and unconditional love. Judy poured all of her energy, heart, soul, and time into nurturing the generations that followed her. Her quiet dedication taught her family the true meaning of selflessness, and her legacy will live on forever in the close-knit bonds of the family she adored so deeply.
Judy's family extends their deepest, most heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Tidewell Empath Hospice House. The staff lovingly took care of Judy all the way through to the end, ensuring she was completely comfortable, peaceful, and entirely out of pain.
She is survived by her devoted son, Mitchell, and his wife, Mahal; her cherished grandchildren, Gregory (and his partner, Amanda), Amanda (and her husband, Jimmy), and Jennifer (and her husband, Ahmed); and her precious great-grandchildren, Michael, Mia, Olivia, Liam, Harley, Jacob, and Magnolia. Judy also leaves behind many nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved and cherished.
Judy is now reunited with her beloved son, Steven, who predeceased her.
A Committal Service will be held at Frederick Loescher Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 220 Brick Church Rd, Spring Valley, NY 10977, US, on September 2, 2026, from 11:00 am to 11:30 am.
